How to Buy Substratum (SUB)

Long behold, a free and open internet is still possible through Substratum, a token seeking to create a decentralized web where anyone can publish, browse and view content. Along with providing censor-free content to users, Substratum owners can make some money on the side by a Substratum Node and get paid each time they deliver content.

No special software is required for the average viewer — you just open the browser and start browsing. No VPN restrictions, no Torr necessary. As certain countries like Russia and China restrict internet access and America repealing net neutrality, a project like Substratum’s is sure to entice investors.

Why does this matter?

Current net neutrality laws threaten to restrict internet access by charging higher rates for specific content and allowing Internet Service Providers (ISPs) the ability to slow down access to certain websites. With Substratum, users are able to enjoy access to any piece of content all while avoiding the heavy cost of ISPs.

For Substratum, they want to create a decentralized web using the basic tenets of it being:

  • Open
  • Accessible
  • Profitable

Ready to start browsing? Let’s help you buy some Substratum.

Create A Coinbase Account

You will first need to buy Bitcoin or Ethereum from Coinbase. If you’re having issues accessing it, try buying them from Coinmama — the process will be exactly the same. If you have previously bought BTC or ETH, you can head over to step 2.

Open Up A Binance Account

After buying your BTC or ETH, you will use them to purchase other coins using a cryptocurrency marketplace. There are a variety of marketplaces to choose from, but we will be using Binance. Open up an account and then proceed to step 3.

Send BTC or ETH to Binance

This step stumps a lot of people. All we’re doing is transferring BTC or ETH from our Coinbase wallet to our Binance wallet. This will allow us to purchase SUB. Here are the steps:

  • Hit “Wallets” on Binance
  • Look for “BTC” or “ETH”
  • Click on “Deposit”
  • Select and copy the address string
  • Go back to Coinbase
  • Choose the “Accounts” tab on Coinbase
  • Locate your BTC or ETH wallet & click “Send”
  • Put in the Binance wallet address into the Coinbase recipient address bar
  • Enter the amount desired and press send!

We know this can be confusing to the novice user. Below are some screenshots to help illustrate the process using ETH as an example:

Time to buy! Make your way over “Markets” and look for the BTC/SUB or ETH/SUB market. Now, you will be able to determine your price per coin, how many coins you want to buy, and then finally make your purchase!

Below is a screenshot outlining the components of the page:

Calculate & Collect

You are now the proud owner of Substratum — now what? You can let it sit in your wallet (many choose to do so), or you can go back to the cryptocurrency marketplace and look for other coins to trade.
