How to Buy Stox (STX)

Predict the future with Stox, an Ethereum-based prediction market platform that allows users to make predictions about any event for rewards.

The cryptocurrency behind Stox — the STX digital token — is the fuel that keeps the platform running. It’s versatile within the platform as it serves as the main currency spectators use for investing in predictive events.

Is this like gambling?

Not at all. The platform allows users with a particular skill set or knowledge to participate in events with the sole outcome of making a profit. Users can predict a variety of events ranging from:

  • Finance
  • Sports
  • Politics (Imagine having Stox in 2016)
  • The weather and more

Have a feeling it may rain tomorrow? Want to put some STX on that? Let’s get you set up.

Open Up A Coinbase Account

You’re probably excited to buy some STX, but before anything, you will need to first buy Bitcoin or Ethereum from Coinbase. If you can’t access Coinbase, try buying the coins through Coinmama — the steps are entirely identical. If you’ve already got a wallet with BTC or ETH in it, you get to skip ahead to the next step.

Create A Kucoin.io Account

The reason we buy BTC or ETH first is because we will need them to purchase other coins in a cryptocurrency marketplace. There are a few options available for STX, but for sake of simplicity we’ll be using Kucoin. Create a Kucoin account and proceed to step 3.

Transfer BTC or ETH to Kucoin

No need to be frightened of these next few of steps — nothing scary here. All we’re going to do is transfer our BTC or ETH from our Coinbase wallet to our Kucoin wallet. Think of it as a money transfer from one account to another, then follow these steps:

  • Tap “Wallets” on Kucoin.io
  • Locate “BTC” or “ETH”
  • Click on “Deposit”
  • Select and copy the address
  • Open up Coinbase once more
  • Find the “Accounts” label on Coinbase
  • Find your BTC or ETH wallet & select “Send”
  • Move the Kucoin wallet address into the Coinbase recipient address bar
  • Put in how much you want and send it on its way!

Below are some screenshots that help describe the process using ETH as an example:

Now that we have our BTC or ETH in our Kucoin wallet, it’s time to get you set up with some STX. Locate the “Markets” tab and search for the BTC/STX or ETH/STX market. Once you have located the correct market, you can isolate your price per coin, decide on a volume, and then eventually buy some STX!

If you’re stuck on this step, below is a screenshot that illustrates the components of the page:

Assess & Stash Away

Now that you are the proud proprietor of some STX, you have the power to decide what to do with them! Some investors let their cryptos sit in their wallets while others choose to head back to the marketplace to purchase other coins.
