How to Buy SONM (SNM)

You know when you’re standing outside and waiting for Uber to search for a network so they can connect you to a driver? That’s the basis of what SONM is trying to do, minus the wait.

The team behind SONM wants its users to profit off the unused computing power of the decentralized network, while powering other functions in a secure and fast manner. On top of that, SONM offers opportunities for miners to make a profit earning tokens by performing calculations in the network to power certain functions like video streaming or site hosting.

So it’s a supermachine?

Not exactly. It’s a fog supercomputer. Anyone in the SONM network can offer their computing power, creating a means for people to profit and a way to power:

  • Site hosting
  • Application development
  • Game servers
  • Video rendering and streaming
  • Machine learning

Fog computing is a growing phenomenon and something that could explode in the future, so let’s get you hooked up with some SMN.

Create A Coinbase Account

Nearly every crypto is based off the Bitcoin or Ethereum blockchain, so it’s no surprise we’ll need to buy some BTC or ETH first. Make your purchase through Coinbase. If that doesn’t work, you can use the same steps to purchase from Coinmama. Both platforms work great. Are you by chance an owner of Ethereum or Bitcoin already? Great! Head to the next step.

Open Up A Binance Account

After buying BTC or ETH, we need to go through a cryptocurrency marketplace to buy any other coin. For today’s example, we’ll be using Binance, but know that there are other marketplaces where SNM is available. Set up a Binance account and move on to step 3.

Send BTC or ETH to Binance

Now we will need to move our BTC or ETH from our Coinbase wallet to our Binance wallet. Don’t worry if this looks odd, it’s rather simple. Just follow these steps:

  • Tap “Wallets” on Binance
  • Find where your “BTC” or “ETH” lives
  • Press “Deposit”
  • Click and copy the address string
  • Open up Coinbase
  • Tap on the “Accounts” label on Coinbase
  • Look for either the BTC or ETH wallet & tap “Send”
  • Place the Binance wallet address into the Coinbase recipient address bar
  • Enter in how much you want to send then say bye!

Still not sure? Reference the screenshot below. It should help.

Purchase SONM (SNM) on Binance

Now that we have that out of the way, we can finally buy some SNM! Locate the “Markets” tab and look for the BTC/SNM or ETH/SNM market. Once you’ve found the desired market, establish your price per coin, the amount you’d like to purchase, and then finalize that very purchase!

What else?

Nothing! If you’re still stuck on this step, look at the screenshot below outlining these steps:

Calculate & Deposit

Now that you have the process in the bag and your cryptos in your wallet, it’s up to you to decide your next step. You can go back to the marketplace to purchase other coins. Or, alternatively, you can let them sit in your wallet. They’ll be safe there. But let’s be honest here, you’re probably going to head back now that you know how easy it is.

Anything else that I’m missing?

Nope. If you still have questions, please don’t hesitate to send them our way in the chat window to your right!
