How to Buy Civic (CVC)

Secure your identity with Civic, a decentralized app that allows users to securely provide their authenticated identity to partner websites for account sign up and access.

User authentication is a growing concern that organizations across a variety of industries face. From signing up for an account on a social network to hopping onto a plane at the airport, it has become necessary to prove who you are to gain access to certain services.

While it may seem daunting to keep all of the information about your identity in one app, Civic keeps your data stored on a secure blockchain that can only be biometrically opened.

What’s the benefit for users?

The more they use the Civic app, the more “trusted” their identity becomes as organizations verify the person’s identity. This allows users to live their lives with less friction as they are able to proceed with ease when it comes to verifying their identities for partner services. The app can be used with:

  • Government entities
  • Financial institutions
  • Employers
  • Other Civic partners

Ready for a life of ease? Let’s get you set up with CVC.

Open Up A Coinbase Account

Our journey first begins by purchasing Bitcoin or Ethereum. You can buy them from Coinbase, but if you’re having problems accessing it, try going through Coinmama — the tutorial is interchangeable for both platforms. If you have some BTC or ETH in your wallet, feel free to move ahead to step 2.

Create A Kucoin.io Account

We need BTC or ETH to be able to purchase other coins in a cryptocurrency marketplace. Today, we’ll be using the marketplace Kucoin, but know there other places where you can buy CVC from. Open up an account with Kucoin and move on to step 3.

Transfer BTC or ETH to Kucoin

The next set of instructions outline how to transfer our BTC or ETH from our Coinbase wallet to our Kucoin wallet. It might look confusing, but the steps are really simple Follow these and it’ll be smooth sailing:

  • Hit “Wallets” on Kucoin.io
  • Look for “BTC” or “ETH”
  • Hit “Deposit”
  • Copy the address string
  • Get back to Coinbase
  • Press the “Accounts” label on Coinbase
  • Look for your BTC or ETH wallet & select “Send”
  • Place the Kucoin wallet address into the Coinbase recipient address bar
  • Put in how much you want and send it off!

Confused? No need to be, here are some screenshots that help describe the process using ETH as an example:

Buy Civic (CVC) on Kucoin

After moving our BTC or ETH to our Kucoin wallet, we will now be able to purchase some CVC. Look for the “Markets” tab and search for the BTC/CVC or ETH/CVC market. Once you have located your desired market, you can decide on your price per coin, the number of coins you want to buy, and then finally conclude your purchase!

If you’re confused by this step, below is a screenshot that illustrates the components of the page:

Congrats on the purchase! What are you going to do with those CVC coins? The choice is yours — you can return to the marketplace to purchase other coins, or you can let the cryptos sit in your wallet.
